Cloud use is becoming more widespread, but remains occasional
IDC divides respondents into five categories, ranging from “occasional user” to “optimized user”. “More and more companies are using the cloud, but rather for one-off or opportunistic purposes such as IT security or Internet of Things applications”, notes Arnaud Spirlet, General Manager of Cisco Belux. “However, only a third have developed a real cloud strategy. And only power users, or 3%, use the cloud to generate more revenue. According to the study, it is possible for them to generate $3 million in revenue per application in the cloud while saving $1 million.”
The cloud is an additional sales channel for companies’ products and services, allows them to attract new customers more quickly (68%) and to access new markets more quickly (18%). However, most respondents admit to having encountered problems in optimizing its use. They lack the necessary skills, a strategy or an ad hoc roadmap.
