Discover the last 5 Belgian fundraisings carried out by Be Angels

Be Angels, the French-speaking business angel network active in the Brussels-Capital Region and the Walloon Region, contributed to the financing of 19 projects in 2016. Last December, no fewer than five projects, all from different sectors, succeeded in raising funds from Be Angels members.

The platform offers video games for smartphones using geolocation and augmented reality. In concrete terms, the phone screen displays a map of the streets where you can build bases, interact with the weather using virtual game cards. Unlike the recent phenomenon game Pokemon GO, the player does not have pokéballs with Pokemon, but tries to collect as many virtual cards as possible to collect. Each card corresponds to a “creature” with its life points, attacks, etc. The game includes different families of cards such as those of the “water”, “fire”, “air” type, etc. Thus, when it rains for example, the “water” type cards are twice as strong.

In addition to being a game, geolocation allows companies and institutions to attract players to points of sale or interest by adding special content or virtual reloading zones. This is a new marketing tool for local businesses or institutions and a new source of income for game developers.

After having carried out an initial fundraising from private investors and the investment fund for creative businesses “St’art”, the company Apocalypse Hunters has carried out a second capital increase from the members of Be Angels. The meeting with investors took place during the first edition of “Learn & Invest in gaming & apps”, an event organised by Be Angels and St’art Invest and which aims to attract as many qualified investors as possible to this sector which is still underdeveloped in Belgium.
